Women's Social Entrepreneurship Panel: Making a Difference in the World • February 28, 2012
Women's Social Entrepreneurship Panel: Making a Difference in the World Event Description Women play an important role in traditional and social entrepreneurship around the world.
As residents of the Bay Area, we are surrounded by women who are affecting global change through entrepreneurship.
Through an intimate "fireside chat" with a panel of social entrepreneurs, Sheryl O'Loughlin
(Executive Director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at Stanford University),
will explore how some very talented and influential individuals have made their mark on the
world of social entrepreneurship. Panelists will highlight the power of women in this field,
both domestically and internationally, discuss the different models of social entrepreneurship,
and explore the challenges and opportunities female entrepreneurs face.
This conversation is ideal for anyone, male or female, who is interested in learning more
about the field of social entrepreneurship and meeting with like-minded individuals.
More recently, she served as co-founder and Chief Mom of the Nest Collective, a mission-driven
CPG company with three brands that focus on providing yummy, healthy, organic/planet friendly kid food.
In addition to the Nest Collective (as a brand), this includes Plum Organics (baby and toddler foods)
and Revolution Foods (school lunches and snacks).
In addition to her entrepreneurial work, Sheryl has inspired and mentored leaders through the
Social Venture Network (SVN) and at the Stanford GSB and supports both the Slow Money Alliance
and the Earth Island Institute. She also serves on the board of directors for Zukes, Inc.,
a pet nutrition company, and was previously on the board of Women's Initiative for Self Employment.
Sheryl received her BBA from Michigan and MBA from Kellogg School at Northwestern.
